Today's journey takes time to reflect on friendship. We all have friends. Some are just acquaintances, some we can rely on, some we take for granted, but some are extra special. These extra special friends are often called best friends. You know someone is your best friend when you can confide in them, count on them and most importantly, you can guarantee they will inspire you to be the best person you can. Do you have a friend like this? If you don't, do you question why? If you do, are you doing the same for them?
Life can be very difficult. I can remember many times where I made a phone call or text to my best friend with a desperate cry for help. It's during those times when a real friend will provide you with an ear to listen, advice if needed and a shoulder to lean on. What I value most in my friendships is the selfless act of encouragement and uplifting. Careful words that expose areas in my life and encourage me to be more than I am. This is the true magic of a best friend.
If you don't have a friend like this, you may need to think about what is holding you back. We must find a person that we can open ourselves up to and trust. We have to make ourselves vulnerable and transparent to that person so no walls are present. Don't go through life blocking everyone out. Life can be extremely lonely if you don't allow at least one person into the true person of who you are. The person inside your mind, not the one that plays out in front of the world. I encourage you to let go and let someone in! You'll be grateful you did because they may save your life from depression, anxiety and loneliness. They may take you to heights you never new you were capable of achieving.
There is also great value in being the one that provides the encouragement. Take time to make sure your friends feel special. When we aren't focused on ourselves, life can be much more enjoyable. There is a lot of joy that comes from making others feel valued.
Enhance your journey! Help your friends achieve new heights in their lives by looking outside of your own world. Be a catalyst for change!
