Today’s journey contemplates the affect significant moments can have on our lives. These moments can last but a fraction of a second yet replay in our minds continually throughout our lives. Have you ever been inspired by significant moments in your life? Maybe you heard a great speech or witnessed an inspiring act of bravery. Inspiring moments are wonderful, but if you’re like me, you may have also been haunted by moments in your life. How do you overcome those pivotal increments of time so they don’t barricade your mind and your potential?
I find it interesting that as you go through your day,with all you are faced, suddenly out of left field, a memory will resurface. One so vivid that you can feel the physical affects as is if the event triggering the memory were happening all over again. What do you do at those moments? Do you begin the replay wheel and reanalyze the intricate details of how everything played out? Do you dismiss the memory and immediately try to divert past it so you can concentrate on something else?
If you’re like me, you’ll find it can be very difficult to readjust my thought process. If a haunting memory flashback comes into my mind, I find it hard to not entertain it. This can cause anxiety, worry or fear. It can bring back dangerous levels of distrust.
Having experienced some significant “haunting” life events in my time has conditioned me to learn how to battle with attempts of these memories bringing me down. If you need to get rid of a haunting memory try one or more of the following:
We have all experienced moments that have hurt us deeply. To keep moving forward with a positive and fresh outlook we must learn to keep those hurts from re-entering our minds. You can experience a joyful and peaceful life if you keep your mind in check. Don’t let it control you! Don’t be defined by your past hurts!
